How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

My product uses the conventions, like including some features of modern day fitness magazines; many different colors, the layout of the magazine, and etc. A specific example is my MastHead, it is bright and bold and can be seen from a mile away.

My magazine represents the fitness industry and the people. People who are interested in fitness and what it brings. The magazine provides information of exercises, nutrition, and equipment to get into shape.

Now in today's society we have a current issue and that is obesity. According to the World Health Organization:

  • Worldwide obesity has tripled since 1975
  • In 2016, more than 1.9 billion adults and young adults were overweight and of these, over 650 million were obese.
  • The majority of the world's population live in countries where overweight/obesity kills more people than the people who are underweight.
  • About 39 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese in 2020 alone.

Obesity can be preventable to an extent and that is when my product (fitness magazine) comes into hand, assessing the issue. My fitness magazine provides strategies on how to get fit. Some of these strategies include different types of exercises and tips.
